Tout simple, or tout simplement is a French adverbial phrase with some currency in academic English. Literally it means 'all simple', or 'simply'; it is pronounced in English as it is in French, 'too sampl' or 'sampl mɒn , IPA: /tuː ˈsɛ̃ m pl (or ˈsɛ̃ m plə mɔ̃ )/. When used in English, it follows a word (usually a noun) to mean 'quite simply' or 'without any elaboration'.
