Although a playwright does write plays, she or he takes the name of the job from the separate English noun, ' a wright, which means 'maker'. It is always an error to spell the word playwrite. You may care to look at Right - write and Wright - rite for more.
- There is no portmanteau verb 'to
playwriteeither.
