The word addenda in academic English is best used as a plural. The singular form (rare outside academic circles) is addendum. (For a note on the etymology of the word, see Latin gerundives in English.)

Addendum and addenda are Latin words. (See -um in Latin.) An addendum is 'a thing which should be added'. The regular plural in the Latin language for nouns ending in -um is -a. So a list of things (plural) which should be added is addenda.
